The ITB Geothermal Master’s Program proudly announced the publication of a research paper entitled “Numerical Simulation and Monte Carlo-Based Volumetric Assessment of Geothermal Resource in the Atadei Field, Indonesia” in the internationally reputable journal Geoenergy Science and Engineering, published by Elsevier.

The paper was authored by Muhammad Sholekan, M.T., a PLN Cooperation Master’s Student, together with Heru Berian Pratama, Ph.D. as the corresponding author, and Dr. Eng. Sutopo, M.Eng. The publication represents a collaborative research effort within the ITB Geothermal Master’s Program focusing on geothermal resource assessment and sustainable geothermal development in Indonesia.

Geoenergy Science and Engineering is indexed in Scopus Q1, with an SJR of 1.051, and is ranked among the Top 10% of Scopus-indexed journals, reflecting the high scientific quality and international impact of the publication.

The research applied numerical simulation and Monte Carlo-based volumetric methods to evaluate geothermal resources in the Atadei geothermal field, contributing valuable insights into geothermal reserve estimation and uncertainty analysis. The study is expected to support more reliable geothermal resource assessment and future geothermal field development strategies in Indonesia.

This research was also supported through the PPMI Program, highlighting ITB’s ongoing commitment to advancing geothermal research and strengthening academic contributions to renewable energy development.
