Geothermal ITB and Solenis Initiated Collaboration Discussion on Research, Scholarship, and Academic Partnership
The ITB Geothermal Master’s Program held an initial collaboration meeting with Solenis on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, at the Geo Dipa Energi Room, 2nd Floor, Energy Building, FTTM ITB. The meeting aimed to discuss potential strategic partnerships in research, academic activities, and human resource development within the geothermal sector.
The discussion was attended by representatives from both institutions, including Nur Choiri Amin from Solenis, as well as ITB representatives: Dr. Suryantini, Prof. Hendra Grandis, Dr. Sutopo, Heru Berian Pratama, Ph.D., Dinda Permatasari, M.T., and Fauziah Maswah, M.T.
During the meeting, both parties discussed a collaboration framework involving three institutions: the ITB Geothermal Master’s Program, Solenis, and PT Trisan Samoa Indonesia. The proposed cooperation includes several strategic initiatives, particularly in joint research and academic supervision for graduate students. Through this scheme, Solenis may contribute as an industry supervisor and propose specific research topics for student theses relevant to industrial challenges and applications.
In addition, the collaboration is expected to include sponsorship support for academic activities organized by the ITB Geothermal Master’s Program, such as the ITB International Geothermal Workshop (IIGW) and other scientific events. Scholarship opportunities were also discussed, including financial assistance schemes and opportunities for Solenis-affiliated personnel to pursue studies at the ITB Geothermal Master’s Program through either the regular master’s pathway or the Master by Research (MBR) scheme.
Further details regarding the collaboration framework and technical arrangements will be outlined in a draft Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). Both parties agreed to target the completion of the MoA within one month as an initial milestone for the partnership.
This meeting marked an important step toward strengthening collaboration between academia and industry, particularly in developing applied geothermal research, industry-oriented education, and future collaborative programs aligned with the expertise of both institutions.
