Geothermal Forum: Gas Geochemistry Monitoring in Lahendong Geothermal Field

The Master’s Program in Geothermal Engineering, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), successfully held another session of the Geothermal Forum Webinar Series 2023, continuing its commitment to fostering discussions on geothermal exploration and technological development in Indonesia.

This week’s forum featured Wahyu Firmansyah as the speaker, presenting the topic “Gas Geochemistry Monitoring in Lahendong Geothermal Field.” The session was moderated by Masdukhan Aris W, and attended by participants from academia, government, and industry sectors.

The presentation highlighted the importance of gas geochemistry monitoring as a critical aspect of geothermal field management. Monitoring gas composition and concentration helps identify reservoir conditions, detect potential upflow zones, and assess the sustainability of geothermal systems. The Lahendong Geothermal Field, one of Indonesia’s pioneering geothermal projects, served as an insightful case study for applying geochemical monitoring techniques in operational settings.

The webinar was held online via Zoom and YouTube, providing open access for geothermal professionals and students to engage in interactive discussions.
