Geothermal Forum: Economic Comparisons and Scenarios for Producing Geothermal Hydrogen

The Master’s Program in Geothermal Engineering, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), held its Geothermal Forum Webinar Series 2022, featuring a discussion on “Economic Comparisons and Scenarios for Producing Geothermal Hydrogen.”
This session explored the synergy between geothermal energy and green hydrogen systems, highlighting how both can complement each other to create a sustainable and efficient energy ecosystem. Geothermal power provides a stable baseload energy supply that enables continuous hydrogen production, minimizes surface footprint, and benefits from government incentives supporting renewable energy development.
The forum also discussed various geothermal power generation systems—ranging from direct steam, flash steam (single, double, and triple), binary cycle, to hybrid systems—and their potential integration into hydrogen production. The discussion emphasized geothermal energy’s significant role in advancing the hydrogen economy through renewable and sustainable pathways.
The speakers for this week’s forum were Fikha Fininda and Fariz Loudoe, with Fitri Oktaviani serving as the moderator. The event was held in a hybrid format, accessible both through Zoom and YouTube Live, as well as on-site at ITB.
