Geothermal Forum: Wellbore Problem in Geothermal Exploitation: Lessons Learned from PGE Operations

The Geothermal Master’s Program of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) proudly continues its Geothermal Forum Webinar Series 2022, featuring discussions on technical challenges in geothermal well operations.

A common issue encountered in geothermal wells involves well integrity problems during both drilling and production phases. Components such as casings, annulus cement, and liners play a critical role in maintaining well integrity. During production, other challenges such as scaling, corrosion, erosion, casing leaks, and cooling may also occur, affecting well performance and longevity.

This session focused on the topic: “Wellbore Problem in Geothermal Exploitation: Lessons Learned from PGE Operations,” presented by Dhanie Marstiga Yuniar, S.T., M.T. and Fadiel Evan Marastio, S.T., and moderated by Adrian Tawakal.

The webinar was held on Friday, April 22, 2022, from 13:30 to 15:30 (Western Indonesia Time), via Zoom, and delivered entirely in Bahasa Indonesia.

Participants gained valuable insights into the lessons learned from Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) operations, exploring practical approaches to address wellbore issues and enhance the reliability of geothermal wells.
