The Geothermal Master’s Program at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), in collaboration with the Geothermal Capacity Building Program Indonesia–Netherlands (GEOCAP), successfully organized a week-long workshop titled “Tectonic Modeling” from 10–14 December 2018.

The workshop was held at the Exploration Room, Energy Building (2nd Floor), ITB Campus, Jl. Ganesha No. 10, and aimed to strengthen technical capacity in geothermal exploration, particularly within sedimentary basin environments. Over five days, participants received theoretical insights, hands-on modeling guidance, and comparative studies with volcanic hydrothermal systems.

Workshop Schedule

• Day 1: Introduction to geothermal systems in sedimentary basins

• Day 2: Modeling thermal evolution in extensional basins

• Day 3: Data preparation for modeling

• Day 4: Heat-flow modeling for geothermal exploration in sedimentary basins

• Day 5: Comparison with volcanic hydrothermal systems, followed by Q&A
