Computer Lab and Modeling

The Computer Laboratory and Modeling Facility of the Geothermal Engineering Program at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) supports education, research, and industry collaboration in geothermal energy. Since 1997, the ITB Geothermal Laboratory has developed and utilized specialized software to support geothermal exploration, reservoir analysis, production optimization, and economic evaluation.

Key Software and Applications

  • Geothermal Engineering Software (GES): Well performance analysis, production test evaluation, pressure drop calculations, and power output estimation.
  • SAR-Geothermal: Risk and economic analysis tool for evaluating geothermal project feasibility and investment performance.
  • IRIS & GeTools: Integrated reservoir analysis system with toolboxes for drilling, reservoir engineering, production engineering, and geochemistry.
  • Smart TOUGH2 & TOUGH2 Interface: Reservoir modeling tools for predicting field performance and optimizing production–reinjection scenarios.
  • Web-based AHP System: Decision-support system for geothermal prospect prioritization using multidisciplinary data.
  • Volsung (Seequent): Geothermal reservoir simulation software for dynamic modeling and reservoir performance forecasting.

  • Leapfrog Geo (Seequent): 3D geological modeling for geothermal exploration and reservoir interpretation.

  • Oasis montaj (Seequent): Geophysical data processing and visualization for subsurface analysis.

In addition to research and software development, the laboratory supports academic activities, short courses, and technical collaboration with industry and government institutions.
